Organization of Hope Deploys Maryland’s First NARCAN and Public Health/Harm Reduction Vending Machines, Pioneering a New Era of Community Empowerment
Baltimore, Maryland – August 29, 2023 – Organization of Hope, a leading nonprofit dedicated to fostering hope and catalyzing positive change throughout the Greater Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan Area, proudly announces the deployment of four groundbreaking NARCAN and Public Health/Harm Reduction Vending Machines.
This trailblazing initiative heralds a new era of community empowerment and is the first of its kind in Maryland, exemplifying Organization of Hope’s unwavering commitment to strengthening communities.
The strategically placed NARCAN and Harm Reduction Vending Machines, which are now operational in pilot locations such as:
- 70X7 Behavioral Health Facility on 2222 North Howard Avenue,
- OOH Harm Reduction Center at 218 East Lexington Street, Suite 600,
- Liberty Village Community Center on 3901 Maine Avenue,
- Residential Community Area at 1619 McKean Avenue,
- Rivertowne Commons Marketplace in Temple Hills, MD, represents a pivotal addition to Organization of Hope’s mission.
These innovative machines offer free access, to name a few, to life-saving NARCAN kits, condoms, STI and HEP, fentanyl and xylazine testing, wound care and hygiene kits, and other essential public health and harm reduction supplies.
Patrecia Williams, Founder and Executive Director of Organization of Hope, stated, “We firmly believe that these public health vending machines will save lives, combat the tragic rise in overdose deaths, and reduce barriers for those in need within the Greater Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan Area. By facilitating easy access to these supplies and regular onsite community peer workers to provide additional care services, we empower individuals to take proactive steps and create positive change.”
Beyond deploying these four NARCAN and Public Health/Harm Reduction Vending Machines, Organization of Hope has ambitious plans to introduce additional machines and programs to support and uplift individuals in need across the region.
With a hands-on approach and a commitment to evidence-based programs, the organization seeks to perpetuate its lasting impact on the lives of children, adults, seniors, veterans, families, and animals throughout the Greater Washington and Baltimore Metropolitan Area.
